WORLD SHUFFLEBOARD LEAGUE

Three ZSC teams have been entered  so far this season.

INTRODUCTION & RULES.....

1. The purpose of the World Shuffleboard League (WSL) is to foster continuing competition among shuffleboard players around the world. The WSL has been set up for and is fully owned by the “International Shuffleboard Association Inc.” (ISA.) The execution of the League play is performed by the WSL Board. The WSL Board is comprised of the League Commissioner (LC,) the Deputy League Commissioner (DLC,) and the League Treasurer (LT.) The WSL Board is elected and supervised by the ISA Board.

2. There shall be two separate league seasons: October through March (Winter) and April through September (Summer.)

3. A team shall be comprised of four to eight players.

4. Each team must register with the International Shuffleboard Association Inc. (ISA) via the official ISA website (www.world-shuffleboard.org,) identifying all the members of the team and the clubs they represent. No additional team members may be added after registration has been completed. A team registration fee of $20 US per season must be submitted to the League Treasurer.

5. Each team shall be required to submit a minimum of two scores every two months and a total of at least six scores for the season. Any team that fails to submit at least two scores within the stated two month period, will receive a "0" (zero) score for any missing score. A team may submit as many scores per month or season as they wish as long as the minimum requirements are met. However, only the last ten scores submitted shall be used. All scores must be submitted at least 15 days before the end of the league season.

6. A team does not have to be a member of the league for the entire season as long as the minimums are met. For example, a team belonging to the WSL for four months would be required to submit scores for each of those four months plus two additional scores to reach the six score minimum requirement. A team can only be registered within 4 months after the beginning of a season.

7. A fee of $2.00 US per player shall be charged for each score submitted.  All funds shall be forwarded to the League Treasurer at the time scores are posted. At the conclusion of each season, the League Treasurer will forward the club share of the collected funds ($1.00 per player per score) to the designated clubs.

8. An individual may be a member of no more than two WSL teams.  If a member elects to be a member of two teams, at least one team must be an international team with a minimum of two foreign players.  Separate scores must be shot for each team.

9. Coaching, cheering and team discussions are welcomed.

10. Method of Play

• Four different team members play at a time to deliver the team’s score. The four team members must be designated before play begins.  No subsitution will be permitted once play has begun. Each of the four players will individually shoot one practice disc, followed by seven counting discs. Such shooting of eight discs shall be defined as one round. Four of such rounds complete the total score of one player.

• A disc in the 10-off area shall be counted as +10.

• All counting discs are to be played consecutively.

• A team may use any regulation shuffleboard court of their choosing. If available, two different courts shall be used for play and each player plays once from the head and once from the foot of each of the two courts. If there is only one court available for play, each player plays twice from the head and twice from the foot of the court.

• The total score of all counting discs for each of the four players shall be submitted to the ISA website within seven days from the date of play.

• All scores must be witnessed and attested via email by a referee who is a member of a recognized Shuffleboard organization and who is not a member of the team.

11. Team averages and ranking shall be posted on the ISA website and seasonal winners shall be declared. The three teams with the highest average 14 days prior to the end of the season shall be invited to participate in the Play Off Series. If one or more of the invited teams decline to participate in the Play Off Series, subsequent teams in descending order shall be invited to participate. The Play Off Series ("Finals") shall take place during the last two weeks of the season. In the finals each team has to deliver three scores under the supervision of a WSL Board approved referee. Winner, 2nd, and 3rd place shall be determined by the higher average scored during the finals.

12. Prizes: the winning team of the finals shall be entitled to use the name “Club World Champions of Shuffleboard – Season yyyy.” The WSL Board will award prizes to the top four teams. Moreoever, one team, to be drawn by lot from all teams in the league (performed by the WSL Board) shall be selected to get back its seasonal fees (except the registration fee.)
